We’re playing a holiday/benefit show this Friday at our all time favorite place to play, Ironworks just east of Culver City. Our good friend Mika is back in town for the holidays. Our good friend Mika’s dad runs a metal shop which doubles as an amazing venue for a show.  They are organizing a benefit show for the shop which we hear is in danger of closing. $5 donation. All proceeds from the show go to Mika’s dad’s shop.

Here are the specs:

Cinder Cone, Spirit of…, The Hectors, and Josh McDonald at Ironworks.

8 pm Friday December 23rd, 2011

Ironworks can be found at:
5634 W. Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, 90016.

Go to Thurman and Washington, right near the Fairfax exit off the 10, and proceed south toward the dead end. Head down the walkway to your left in the direction of the loud music.

Beer and other beverages will be on hand.

Free earplugs will be on hand.

And here is a picture of Anthony and David at Disneyland:

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Lot 1 show on Friday. If anyone took pictures, you should send them to us so we can post them on this website. You should also check out Marriages on Facebook and be nice to them or whatever you do to people on Facebook.

This is a picture from a show that happened like two years ago but it was close to where our last show happened so we can pretend like it’s related to the show we just played. Cool? Ok cool. Thanks.

After what has been perhaps the longest show drought in Cinder Cone history, we officially have a show booked for Friday December 9th at Lot 1 in Echo Park. More details to come and, frankly, neither David nor Anthony are holding their respective breaths after having been cancelled-on and double booked several times during this fairly unproductive Fall. If we sound bitter, it’s because we are.

In case you haven’t kept up with all the news about Cinder Cone on TMZ, Pitchfork, and the Wall Street Journal Arts section, here’s a brief update of what’s been going on with us since our last show in July:

We have written a significant quantity of very good songs. We will play them for you if ever given the chance.

We have made progress on completing and releasing our 3rd full length. More to come on that in 2012.

David and Anthony = Devastated over the NBA lockout. Come on bros. A 50/50 revenue split is fair. It’s what Anthony and I do. Works for us just fine.

Steve Jobs died so our iTunes joke about supporting your favorite billionaire is no longer all that amusing. Amazingly, despite his death, iTunes is still up and running so you can still download our 2 full length albums.

Bradley’s blog, Geweih Ritual Documents, is still selling the Cinder Cone split with Palo Verde. Also, there are still physical copies of the amazing cassette Bradley put together (WITH HIS HANDS). Buy it for someone as a holiday gift.

If you’d like to preview the songs, check out the official Band Camp page of the split EP

Ok then.

So our split release with Palo Verde is coming out at the end of July.  Our tracks are good.  Palo Verde’s are better.  This release will be available in beautifully customized cassette form, created by our very good friend Bradley and his label Geweih Ritual documents.  Because it’s 2011, we’ll be releasing the split in MP3 form as well.  More details on the MP3s as the release date approaches.  We’ll be playing a release show at Vacation Vinyl in Silverlake on July 29th.  The extremely amazing and very limited cassette version of this split will be available for sale at this show.  Details:

Much progress made this week on the upcoming split EP with Palo Verde.   Vocals recorded on 2 of the tracks with our good friend Christian La Rocca.  And another friend of ours contributed an extremely high quality organ track to one of the instrumentals.  All of this means that recording for the split is officially done. Onto mixing.  Stay tuned and for real time updates on recordings, shows, and hound sightings, follow us on Twitter.  http://twitter.com/#!/CinderConeMusic
